LMNT Jewelry is handcrafted jewelry by Lauren Mullaney. Lauren is a West Hartford-based metalsmith who studied at the CT School of Jewelry Art. Lauren loves working with sterling silver and NuGold brass to create jewelry that has an organic, yet architectural look. Keep reading for more!

NYHC: Tell us about what you make.

Lauren Mullaney: I hand craft classic and edgy geometric jewelry using sterling silver, oxidized silver, and Nugold brass.

NYHC: Where do you live?

LM: I live West Hartford, CT with my 1 1/2 year old Rhodesian Ridgeback, Hondo.

NYHC: What is unique or different about your process and/or designs?

LM: Many of my designs are based on geometric forms cut from die forms. I hammer and hand craft each one of these shapes myself. I am a fan of geometric shapes and forms so it really is the shapes themselves that help inspire many of my pieces.

NYHC: Do you have any favorite pieces? What makes them special to you?

LM: My favorite piece is the three rings earrings in silver. They will always be very special to me. They are also the last pair of earrings my mother ever wore.

NYHC: What is your favorite tool or supply?

LM: My favorite tool is my circle cutter. Many of my designs are based on geometric forms cut from die forms. I hammer each one of these shapes myself. but it's the shapes themselves that help inspire many of my pieces. My square cutter comes in second.

NYHC: Is there a new piece/opportunity/change that you're excited about?

LM: I've recently been working a lot more with gemstones, making one of a kind and limited edition pieces. I recently just added a section to my website. I think customers will love the new pieces.

NYHC: What advice or tips can you share with other makers?

LM: Never be afraid to ask. I've always been shocked how open other artists are about so many aspects of the business. They are wonderful resources.

NYHC: Share an important lesson you've learned from running your business.

LM: You must always be open to input, compromise, and adjustment. There are many others who have come before you and learned much from their experience, so take that advice and incorporate it however you can..
