Meet Team Member Lana Nevsky, the proud founder and CEO of Brooklyn-based soap company, AMAZING I AM. Lana shares with us how she stands out in the marketplace and her advice to anyone running a business.

NYHC: Tell us about what you make.

Lana Nevsky: I make soaps, scrubs, lotions and more from organic and natural products scented with essential oils and natural fragrances.

NYHC: What is unique about your work?

LN: Our products are handmade and hand poured in small batches to provide the best quality. Because of it, each handmade product is unique, and there are no two that are identical. I do not sell anything if I don’t try it myself. I personally use my products daily, so I know from my own experience how these products create the feeling of my skin.

NYHC: Do you have any favorite products?

LN: Our team updates products for each season. My favorite part of it is gardening soap (such as Carrot, Pumpkin, Cucumber, Watermelon, Tomato soap). All our soaps are handmade through cold process soap making. Our olive oil based soap formula includes organic pulp and the juice of fresh vegetables, and I guess it makes our soap different from others. For lotions and scrubs, we use high quality organic plant butters and oils. So, our product is vegan and animal friendly.

NYHC: Is there a new piece/change that you're excited about?

LN: We’ve continued to improve the image of our logo and label design. And I would like to present you a new version of it (featured in our photos). This beautiful logo and labels bring our product new spirit and enthusiasm. During the current crisis we’ve continued to build a customer relationship and work for the option of a new product in the future.

NYHC: What advice can you share with other makers?

LN: "Chop wood and carry water" - important words I learned from running my business. As an owner of a small, medium, or large business you just need to be willing to take action, and more action than anybody else.
